President's Letter, June 2006
Hi everyone!!! Last month’s chapter meeting was a lot of fun, thanks to member Vivian Salazar. Vivian is a certified “One-Stroke” instructor. She was very patient with us in teaching how to load the paintbrushes and turn them this way and that. As with anything new, her techniques will require lots of practice. As a stenciler, I had been taught to use almost no paint at all on my brushes. It was very challenging to keep putting more paint on our brushes for OneStroke. My leaves ended up looking like amoebas and my roses quite resembled zinnias…so I practiced at home and on my vacation. My leaves now look like amoebas and my roses still closely resemble a flower of unknown origin…but I feel like they are better executed works (not of art). Vivian had told us that it took her about 2 years to really “get it” on her own. We will continue to work at it!!
Vicki has an exciting program this month as well. Come and see a Shimmerstone demo with an opportunity for hands-on activities as well.
Hope to see you at our June meeting.
