President’s Letter, July 2006
July, 2006
Wow…..June was an amazing month!! Nine members of our club participated in a 6-day plaster class at the School of Italian Plasters. It was one of the best classes ever!! Linda and
Doyle Self were fantastic teachers and the finishes that we learned are “to die for”. (Thought I would never move my right arm again after the first day of troweling, but once I learned to trowel correctly, things were a lot smoother-literally). Kate, Cassandra, Mary-Helen, Brenda, Vicki, Karen, Emma, Sheri and I worked like “crazy” for 8 hours a day, but I think everyone will tell you that we enjoyed every crazy minute. Hopefully, you will see some of our samples during our July/August meetings and be so jealous that you will want to take the class too.
Vicki was really busy during June. Not only did she attend her daughter’s graduation from kindergarten, but also managed to take the plaster class and Gary Lord’s 3 day paper finishes workshop at Royal Design Studios!! Kari Caldwell attended Gary’s class also). You can be busy too. During August, 15 members of our chapter will get to see a demo of Rose Wilde’s Wood Icing at Royal Design Studio. If you would like to attend the actual 3 day workshop from August 16-18th , please contact Royal Design Studios or get more info online at www.royaldesignstudio.com Once you are there, check out other classes such as Skimstone, taught by Melanie Royals and Kari Caldwell.
If you missed our last meeting, then you missed a wonderful presentation and hands-on demo from Modern Masters representative, Diana Sartor. Diana showed us how to layer “Shimmerstone” and let us go a bit wild with some of the products. Diana has a great sense of humor and promises to return with new products for future meetings.
Check out “The House that Faux Built” at www.fauxhouse.com You will be inspired.
See you in July.
