President’s Message, September, 2006

Dear Chapter Members,
I hope your summer was restful and relaxing. Did you get to read, garden or paint for yourselves? Our meeting last month was a kick!! Karen Jorgenson taught us how to transform a black and white photo into a work of art!! I made a picture of my conservative father and sister into my father with Beethoven hair and a punk rocker for my sister!! My Dad laughed so hard….but my sister’s response was, “What the heck?”
I used this technique to turn a black and white photo of my stepmother’s mom, (Betty Lou), into a lovely soft-colorized picture. It was a wonderful birthday present. Thanks, Karen.
Now on a more somber note…..It has come to my attention that many of you have not paid your dues this year. I am sure that it is just an oversight, but when 36 of you are not paying, it really impacts our chapter. Please send your dues ($15.) to Julie Young, our treasurer, ASAP. I will not include addresses, etc. on the blog, as it is not private. Please check your chapter directories for that info. We are doing our part, as a board, in providing our chapter with quality programs, updated information and a safe harbor for expressing our artistic abilities as a group. The ball is now in your court!! A chapter is a give and take venture, not all giving and not all taking!! Enough said.
This Saturday, August 26th, our chapter is holding a jobshare at Trina’s house. For our new members, a jobshare is teaching a specific technique (in this case, stenciling a full size palm tree) and having members work together to learn how to do it. We had approximately 7 people sign up at our August meeting. Interested? It will run from about 10am to approximately 2 p.m. Call Vicki or Audrey (Again…check your directories) if interested. Trina lives in Escondido and directions will be sent to those who signed up. Should be a fun day!!
See you in September!! (Sounds like an old song).
Audrey
