President’s Letter, November 2006

Happy Thanksgiving, Artisans by the Sea!!!
At the time of this newsletter, we have just finished our business workshop with Rebecca Parsons. It was amazing!! Rebecca is not only a very talented artist in her own right, but what a businesswoman!! I wasn’t sure why we needed an entire day to talk about running a decorative painting business….now I wonder how she fits it all in!! As it was, we ran a bit late, but everyone agreed that it was a worthwhile day!! If you missed it….you really missed a fabulous opportunity for growth. Thank you to a very exuberant teacher, (Rebecca), timekeeper and helper, (Susie) and our wonderful participants!! This was a lovely melding of Orange County’s Faux-Cal Stencilers and our own Artisans by the Sea members. Thank you to Faux Cal’s members: Cathy, Eloise, Kari, Kim, Sally and Suzanne as well as ABS members: Cassandra, Emma, Joan, Joanne, Julie, Karen, Katherine, Kathy, Sheri, Trina and Vicki, and guest, Edee.
Lunch and class were by the pool at my home and now our chapter name might be changed to Artisans by the Pool (only kidding). So much information, so little time.
I may finally have to put it all together and actually organize my business!! What a concept!! What a perfect day…with a big thanks to Vicki for organizing the class and Julie for helping out.

On another “business” note, please remember that we are voting at our next meeting for new board positions. Both Julie and Cassandra have volunteered to run for President and Vice President (Programs),respectively, but we still need another co-chair for programs, recording secretary and membership chair. Please think about volunteering. We need you!! As former President, Katherine( Kate), so aptly put it last month, “It is time to step up to the plate!”

With so much for me to be thankful for, I have also been so blessed with my wonderful board of the past 2 years….Vicki, Joanne, Mary-Helen, Katherine, Karen, Teri, Deb, Julie and Shelley. Please accept my heartfelt thanks for all you’ve done.
Audrey
